Did the scottish invent any instruments?

  • Did America invent any musical instrument?

I think the modern electric guitar was invented by an American… not sure if Leo Fender is an immigrant. Well even if he’s probably American and he created and patented the modern electric guitar. Banjo is definitely an American instrument. I think a whole bunch of electric instruments are invented by Americans… But is electrifying an instrument the same as “inventing” it? Doesn’t seem right, to me. In any case, in addition to the banjo, the worn washboard, or frottoir, is an American (Cajun) invention. Per Mr. Mojo, of Mojo and the Bayou Gypsies, there are four (4) musical instruments that have been invented in America. Anybody know the other two??? The Glass Armonica was invented by Ben Franklin. It’s a series of long glass cylinders played with the fingers with a sound much like playing a crystal water glass. Also, the kazoo was invented by Alabama Vest in the 1850s.
